Philosophy Book Series Design
For the final project in the Advanced Typographic Design course (Sophomore year, Department of Visual Communication at Bezalel), I designed a series of philosophy books.
I chose three works of modern and post-modern Jewish thought from the 20th century that explore religious ecstasy and the experience of "holiness." My goal was to design a visual language that plays with the tension between a post-modern, academic coolness and a deeply personal, ecstatic experience of Devekut (attachment to the Divine). Since the project was restricted to typographic elements only, the design combines a clean, black-and-white aesthetic—using sans-serif and monospace fonts—with vibrant, calligraphic creations full of color and life.
I submitted this project in early 2024, having completed most of the work remotely while serving in the reserves in Gaza during the initial months of the "Iron Swords" war.
