A Personal Family Project: A Protective Amulet

My uncle taught me an ancient tradition for protection and blessing: save a small piece of the Afikoman from the Passover Seder, and then, during every night of the Counting of the Omer, hold that piece while reciting the blessing.

In 2024, the days of the Omer coincided with the height of the war, and at the same time, the beginning of our first pregnancy. I designed a small box to keep the Afikoman piece safe. It features Egyptian-style geometric patterns and personal verses we chose together to fit the moment and our prayers.
